Got Questions?

Are herbs safe?

Each plant has distinct medicinal properties, and some herbs may interact with medications or be unsuitable for certain individuals. For optimal safety and effectiveness, it’s advisable to seek guidance from a certified herbalist, naturopath, or healthcare professional.

However, many herbs have been safely used by non-herbalists for generations in households across the world.

How quickly do herbal remedies work?

Herbalism and herbal remedies are not quick fixes or Band-Aid solutions. True healing with herbs takes time, consistency, and patience, allowing the body to work in harmony with nature's gifts for lasting wellness.

Liquid herbal extracts are quickly absorbed and start working almost immediately. However, the key word here is "start," as noticeable results can vary. Some herbs that target the nervous system can produce effects fairly quickly.

For example, Bitters, which stimulate the digestive system through taste receptors can often be felt within 10 to 20 minutes, sometimes even sooner. This is why they're usually taken 10 to 15 minutes before meals.

Other herbs used for acute conditions may take between 1 to 3 days to show an effect.

When it comes to tonifying herbs, the process is slower but more profound. These herbs work by gradually strengthening the body systems, and their effects build up over time. Typically, tonic herbs are used long-term, anywhere from 1 to 3 months or longer.

What happens if my product melts in the mail?

Unfortunately, this is beyond our control, but rest assured it won’t affect the product’s effectiveness. Simply place it in a room-temperature area or the refrigerator to allow it to re-solidify.

Why is my product a different color than last time I ordered it?

Natural products may vary in color, texture, and scent from batch to batch. Though the ingredients and formula remain the same, natural variations can occur depending on the season in which the ingredients were grown and harvested. Each batch is guaranteed to be fresh!

What’s the difference between essential oils and infused oils?

Essential Oils: These are highly concentrated plant extracts made through distillation or cold pressing. They are very potent and usually need to be diluted before use.

Infused Oils: These are made by soaking herbs or plants in a carrier oil, which absorbs their beneficial properties. Infused oils are gentler and can often be applied directly to the skin.

Essential oils are stronger and used for aromatherapy or therapeutic purposes, while infused oils are milder and commonly used in skincare products.

Do you use eco-conscious packaging?

Yes! We choose packaging with both safety and sustainability in mind. Our body scrubs are packaged in BPA-free, recyclable plastic jars for safety in the shower, and our lip balms come in plastic tubes since natural oils can sometimes bleed through paper. Everything else is housed in glass containers to reduce waste and preserve freshness. Our teas and dried herbs are sealed in compostable paper pouches, keeping your apothecary beautiful and the planet happy.

We also encourage you to reuse your containers! The body scrub jars make perfect storage for hair ties, paper clips, or small treasures — or you can refill them using our Simple Sugar Scrub recipe on the blog. Your lip balm tubes can also be refilled with our easy DIY lip balm recipe featured there. Glass containers can be washed and sanitized in the dishwasher, but plastic jars should be hand-washed only to prevent warping or damage.

Occasionally, you may notice a change in packaging—that’s just us finding a better option or price so we can continue offering you the same great product, at the same great value.

How do herbal remedies taste?

Some herbal remedies are quite tasty, like a refreshing Hibiscus Nettle Lemonade or a soothing cup of herbal tea. However, not all remedies go down as smoothly! Certain tinctures or stronger teas can have a bitter or earthy taste, but the benefits make it worth it.

Tinctures: Tend to have a strong, sometimes bitter taste because they’re made with alcohol or glycerin. You can mix them with water or juice to soften the flavor.

Teas: The flavor can range from soothing and mild to earthy or bitter, depending on the herbs used.

Capsules: Have no taste since the herbs are inside a capsule, making them a great option if you want to avoid the taste altogether.

Infused Honey: Sweet with subtle herbal notes, making it one of the tastier ways to take herbs.
